i Colorado in Taos!
A joint venture
in art by Kathy Mackin & Michael McCormick.

(of Boulder, CO) & Michael McCormick (of Taos, NM) are both longtime
residents of their hometowns and active in the art communities they serve.
Their chance encounter was on a trans-Pacific flight to Tokyo 18 years
ago. Michael was traveling with his wife and infant sons - going to visit
his Japanese in-laws. Kathy was also traveling with her family including
her infant son, to attend the opening of her partner’s photography
exhibit in Tokyo. This chance encounter on the plane with babies toddling
up and down the isles grew into an art exchange/caravan of culture and
friendship between Colorado and Taos. Like Michael, Kathy has owned an
art gallery and has worked in the arts for years. Presently she works
with artists helping them with career development & promotion. Michael
has been in the gallery business for 28+ years, a novelty in these difficult
economic times. He is well respected in the art world for his knowledge,
expertise & professionalism and has assisted many artists and collectors
to find their niche in that world. Kathy and Michael both strive to keep
the arts alive in their communities. The result: iColorado in Taos! opens Sat July 12th 4-8, Sun July 13 10-6 @ the Michael McCormick Gallery and runs through August 17th. The artists picked the theme – the color RED, symbolic of the spanish name for “Colorado”. The public is invited to come celebrate this joint venture between two advocates of the arts, Michael McCormick & Kathy Mackin and to meet the Colorado artists who support their causes. The Ramada Inn is offering discount rooms to guests of the gallery
