Says artist, Angus Noel MacDonald, “Art has always been a part of my life. Painting, like music has a spiritual quality to it. They enrich my life. When I am in the presence of art and music, I can’t help but feel uplifted. I began drawing when I was about five years old on the Mexican border in West Texas around hard working people who lived close to the earth. I try to paint the feelings I have for these humble people and their lifestyles. Each of my paintings is painted from my feelings, not from a photograph. I attempt to express a feeling beyond the image seen on the canvas. I try to share in each painting the sum total of my 66 years of life experience among the humble Hispanic people of southern New Mexico.” |
