2004 Taos Solar Music Festival Poster
"Los Musicos"

Taos Solar Music Festival proudly partners with renowned local artists to present works of art as our Taos Solar Music Festival poster each year. Ed Sandoval, who deftly captures the unique light, magic, and spiritualism of this New Mexico region has been the feature Solarfest artist for several years. Ed called working with Taos Solar Music Festival "the climax of his career."

"We feel incredibly fortunate to have worked with an artist of Ed Sandoval's caliber for these past few years," reflected Dawn Richardson, Festival Director. "We will always be grateful to Ed."

Continuing to team up with outstanding artists, Taos Solar Music Festival is honored to showcase Pat Woodall as this year's featured artist. Pat moved permanently to Taos in 1980 and has a large extended family here. Woodall paints landscapes inclusive of elements reminiscent to northern New Mexico. Woodall has been featured in articles in Taos Magazine and this April's issue of Southwest Magazine.

When asked to comment on his new partnership with the Taos Solar Music Festival, Pat said: "I'm crazy about Solarfest! It's the best summer event in Taos." Woodall went on to say, "I feel that good energy at Solarfest that is indicative of Taos: sun, music, art, and all the people from different cultures."

Woodall's painting for the Festival this year, entitled "Los Musicos", truly embodies his vision of intensity, texture, and shadow over and beyond the concrete details defined in the scene. The painting is of four musicians playing in front of an adobe wall of a church as a multi-cultural procession approaches. This work of art displays Woodall's strengths: his absence of timidity, his fearlessness in the creative process, his confidence in his art, and his deep understanding of the world of light and shadow.

The premiere of the Taos Solar Music Festival poster will be at the Michael McCormick Gallery on Solstice Saturday, June 19th. Pat Woodall will be signing prints of "Los Musicos," from 2pm to 6pm. Pat Woodall's art currently hangs in the Michael McCormick Gallery. Register at the gallery for a drawing to be held at 6pm of a pair of three-day passes to the Festival.
